Our services work with Nature

Lawn treatments:  I recommend three treatments per year for most clients.  A treatment visit includes an organic granular food application, a liquid compost tea or fish emulsion spray and 10 - 15 minutes of manual weed pulling.  The goal of our soil improving treatment program is to make your lawn more self sustaining so you will begin to spend less money on grass maintenance.  Clients may opt to have us treat with a natural selective herbicide that kills broadleaved weeds such as dandelions and plantains.

Tree, shrub and garden fertilizing, composting or mulching:  We evaluate what is needed for any, or all, of your landscape plantings, recommend the appropriate amendments and perform the application at the right time.

Tree and shrub deep root feeding:   We pressure inject compost tea, mycorrhizal inoculants and fertilizer 6 - 8 " into the soil beneath the canopy of your selected specimen trees and shrubs.  This is especially beneficial for less than vigorous older plants or where the natural leaf litter is continually removed by raking.

Fall lawn renovation:  This service is indicated if your lawn has extensive grub damage, is full of crabgrass or is over-run with a variety of weeds due to poor soil characteristics.  We mechanically core aerate, top-dress by hand with 1 yard of compost per 1,000 sq ft, over-seed with drought and disease resistant grass and fertilize.

Invasive Plant Identifaction and Removal:  Invasive plants may outcompete natives and replace ecologically important native plants which feed and harbor wildlife.  We develop a plan to reduce and / or remove the invasive plants.

Native Plant Installations:   Your site is evaluated to determine options for improving sustainablity and ecological habitat.  We develop a plan to install native plants that meet your aesthetic goals and are adapted to the conditions of your site.

Landscape sustainability evaluation:   I walk your property and evaluate the key ornamentals and turf  looking specifically at the appropriateness and current state of all plantings.  We can do the site walk together, a "walk and talk," or I can evaluate your landscape, follow with a photographic report including suggested cultural improvements, recommended culling and great additions.
